I want to make the phone number near the top of the page, a link so that it will, on a mobile phone, cause it to make a call. Ordinary text I know will achieve this, but this number is within an imagemap. You will see I've had a go with the tel: attribute, but it doesn't work. What should I put in the image map link?

I've never done this in a map but it should work the same, but your link should just be

<area href="tel:02076310090" coords="462,158,573,172" shape="rect">

Open in new window

You had href in the actual link

If you want it available internationally then
<area href="tel:+442076310090" coords="462,158,573,172" shape="rect">

Open in new window
