Authentication problem with Linked Server executing Stored Procedure from VB Script

I am trying to execute a sp from vb script.  The sp uses a linked server open query.  The SP works fine on the sql server instance through sql manager but results in an authentication error from a remote or local execution of a vb script wherein the connection string authenticates fine to the server instance but fails on the sp with the linked server.  error rendered on vb script execution.   I have added the authentication for the sql database used in the connection string as  local server login to remote server login under the security tab in the linked server properties with out success.  security tab in linked server.  Any thoughts?

Thanks
