SBS 2008 disk space and the DataServiceComponents.log file

Is it safe to clear( archive )  the  DataServiceComponents.log file from Windows small business server folder ?  im running out of space on the server and found this folder taking over 4 GB of space .

Please advice if anyone has encountered the same .

Hi,

yes, you can delete it, it is used for troubleshooting purpose.

0. Stop the Windows SBS Manager service.
1. rename the DataServiceComponents.log  to DataServiceComponentsold.log
2. Start  the Windows SBS Manager service and see in explorer.refresh it
3. now you can see the new DataServiceComponents.log  file should created automatically.
4. now delete DataServiceComponentsold.log

Here is an app that I've used at multiple clients to identify the largest files on a server or desktop, their size and location.

It works great and provides a fast view of what is taking up the most space.

Can we stop the Windows SBS Manager service during the live environment .will this effect any of the other services / function on the server ?
