We use DPM 2012 to backup Exchange 2013. It works as shown the screenshot.

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

DPM 2012 RTM or SP1?
At least Exchange 2013 in in the features list for SP1.
Make sure, the latest RUs are installed.

The logfiles are truncated by Exchange, as far as exchnage regognizes the backup, the maintenance tool truncates the log files.

DPM just writes the backup tag, so Exchange maintenance knows, the there is a backup of the mailboxes. So your logfile problem is solved, if Exchange regognizes the DMP backup.
