I would like to set up a development environment on a SharePoint Virtual Machine preferably with Windows server 2008.

Is there a site showing instructions to do this.

Or does MSDN have such VM's available. Do not have to much time to set this up from scratch. If I ahve to set it up from scratch would prefer step by step instructions.

Have you looked at
http://blogs.technet.com/b/steve_chen/archive/2010/01/07/sharepoint-2010-beta-resource-guide.aspx ?

Unfortunately, Microsoft no longer makes the VHDs for SharePoint 2010 available.

A trial version of the software is still available at
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=16631

I would also suggest looking at the Easy Setup Script for SharePoint 2010

Ok Now I am confused. I have a windows 7 enterprise machine 64 bit.

I need to create a virtual machine developement enviornment with SharePOint 2010 installed on it.

What is the easiest way I could create a development environment for myself.

I thought I could create avirtual machine install windows server 2008 and sharepoint 2010.

I cannot do that.  Any help suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
