Personal.xls not working
Hi experts!
I created a toolbar two years ago for Excel and saved it and its macros to the OFFICE11\XLSTART directory. It's been working just fine until last week when I started getting the message MACRO NOT FOUND with the path OFFICE11\XLSTART showing. When I go to MACROS it sees my macros and I can run a macro from MACROS but they seem to be invisible to my toolbar. What happened??

Does it matter what macros are in the workbook? It is the path that seems to be the issue. Somehow that path is now disconnected from the toolbar.
you mean on the tool bar you have a button you press it and nothing happens ?

Yes. For two years now, when I clicked a button, the macro would work. Now no matter what button I choose it tells me it can't find the macro EVEN THOUGH I can see it when I go to TOOLS\MACROS.
ok did you upgrade to a new version of excel ? what version you were using you said OFICE11 so presume it is Excel 2003 are you still at this version or now 2007/2010 .. ?

Yes, we are on Office 2003. Sometime this year we will probably upgrade though I hate the new toolbar! But no, I haven't upgraded the one I am working on for years. Excel just seems to have developed amnesia and can't remember the macros in the VBA module.
pls post the workbook personal.xls and advise what is the full path of the location of this file on your drive.

Here is the path on my computer:

ok fine for the location now what is the macro that sets your toolbar as I see by default no macro is set to run upon loading. So maybe for some reason it has been disactivated so I need to know which one loads the toolbar menu if you know.

I don't know if this would work but no harm to try. Put this file in your XLSTART folder and rename the other one as old.

I originally created the toolbar by using CUSTOMIZE to add icons to my toolbar and attached macros to them. From that point on, the toolbar was there. But you can create it in Excel by running the CreateAeffectToolbar macro (though I didn't update it for one macro). Does that make sense?
yes sure it got lost by an office update somehow. Did you try running now the new personal.xls that I posted ?

I moved the old personal.xls to another folder and put in the new one. Unfortunately, it is the same. I can see the macros in TOOLS\MACRO and run them from there but when I try running any of them from the toolbar, I get THE MACRO CANNOT BE FOUND and the path where I stored the personal.xls. I finally decided to delete the toolbar and regenerate it to and that fixed the issue but now I want to understand what caused this? Is there a link to the toolbar that can be broken?

When I regenerate the toolbar it works just fine, no error messages. I just want to know how to "reconnect" the toolbar if this happens again.
