I want to send out an email blast and link an mp3 file so people can click the link and the song will play in a media player.  What's the best way to do this and are they any plugins i can use that are easy to set up on a regular (non cms) php site?

A link to the song on YouTube might be your best bet.  I've also used Vimeo successfully.

yeah, but this is custom music and its just an mp3 file.  Don't really want to direct to another site either.

Have you tried just putting a link to the MP3 file into a web page?  You will be somewhat dependent on the client browser to play the file, but most browsers have some kind of rendering capability for MP3.  I would expect that most email rendering programs would not have this ability, so you would want to tell the client to click the link or copy / paste into the browser address bar.

Well, that certainly worked.  Google Chrome has the best player for the automatic player.  I think that just might do.  Not sure how good this will work with IE8 but....

I wonder if this works with phones and tablets.  Thanks Ray.

Didn't try it with phones or tablets, but I tried it in 3 browsers with good success.  Thanks for the points and best of luck with the project, ~Ray
