Is there a function in VB the will return the text month name from a date (mm/dd/yyyy)?

MonthName takes a month integer
Month returns the month integer...

so combining them should give you what you are looking for.

The 2nd parameter true/false tells whether to abbreviate the month name or not.

textMonthName = MonthName(Month(thisDate),true)
