How do I open this .msg file?

I got emailed this .msg file (and another file with no file extension). I think .msg files are supposed to be opened with Outlook, which I did, but its blank. Did I do something wrong? Can someone verify whether or not this is a blank file?
Also, what is the purpose of the other file? (other than to confuse me even further).
Also, why does that other file have no file extension? (other than cause me to have to type this extra sentence).

I was able to save the first file to a folder, then simply double-clicked on it. There was nothing in it other than a From (keridineno@hottomatos.net) and a To email address (gloria.davis-dalancy@ct.gov), and the subject line of Luncheon on March 27.

The second file contained a message:
Reporting-MTA: dns; p3plwbeout18-06.prod.phx3.secureserver.net [173.201.193.192]
Received-From-MTA: dns; localhost [173.201.193.244]

It appears this is a rejection notice from a server. Check the email address and send again?
