Windows Server 2012 Essentials 'server migration' Installation mode

Hello Experts

I am introducing an MS Windows 2012 Server Essentials server into a single-server network where the Domain controller is an old server running Win 2000 Server.

Can someone tell me if the Win 2012 Server Essentials 'server migration' installation mode option will enable the 2012  Essentials server to get the domain groups and users details, and then enable me to just decommission the Win 2000 SErver ?

Or is Win 2000 Server too old for 2012 server essentials to do this. ?

Thanks heaps

The minimum supports functional level is 2003, so no you cannot migrate from a 2000 DC.

Hi Cliff

Thanks for the prompt response.

Thats a pity. I guess Win 2K server is pretty old though...

OK, I'll do this the long way.

Thanks again

you could go to 2003 first, then upgrade from that.  there are lots of old cheap servers on the market, or you could just use a pc

Thanks sumton1

I'm trying 2008 and an intermediate platform to go to 2012...
