Our SP dude is on vacation with his kids.  Mgt has requested a list of all users for a site collection.  How do we do that?  Keep in mind we did not manually add them. They came to our web site and registered through forms-based authentication.

 I see there is a SP Admin site.  I think I can get the credentials.  Where do I look?  Never been there.

It can be done with PowerShell;

For SharePoint 2007 or 2010 in any PowerShell;

[System.Reflection.Assembly]::LoadWithPartialName("Microsoft.SharePoint")

$site = New-Object Microsoft.SharePoint.SPSite("http://yourservername/sites/yoursitecollection ")

$groups = $site.RootWeb.sitegroups

foreach ($grp in $groups) {"Group: " + $grp.name; foreach ($user in $grp.users) {"  User: " + $user.name} }

$site.Dispose()

Open in new window

For SharePoint 2010 in the SharePoint Management Shell;

$site = Get-SPSite http://yourservername/sites/yoursitecollection

$groups = $site.RootWeb.sitegroups

foreach ($grp in $groups) {"Group: " + $grp.name; foreach ($user in $grp.users) {"  User: " + $user.name} }

$site.Dispose()

Open in new window
