Trying not to change a DataGridViewCheckBoxCell?

I'm using a checkbox as a row selector for a DataGridView. When a checkbox is selected, that specific row is selected, however, I want to be able to display a message indicating that the row is selected if a user tries to click the checkbox off and keep the checkbox checked. Not sure how to accomplish this.
