Cannot seem to delete voice mailbox - phone is still lit up red

I have CUCM and Unity and I moved an extension and deleted the vm mailbox and vm on this extension.  The problem is the phone handset is still red even after unplugging it and reregistering the phone.  What did I miss here?  Any help would be great.  Thanks

Unity never got the instruction to send a Message Waiting Indication to turn the light off on that phone.

Log into Callmanager > Advanced Features menu > Voicemail > MWI Numbers > find the MWI Off number. Then from the phone that is still on, call the MWI Off extension. It may be able to reach that MWI number and the phone will turn off.

or

Try this: Log into Unity > Telephony Integration > Phone System > click on the Phone System you have  (you could try all available phone systems if you are indoubt) and then click on the Synchronize All MWIs on This Phone System button.
