DHCP ScopeHi,
The screenshot above is from SBS2003 installation.
In SBS2011, is it necessary to check the boxes for "Enable DNS dynamic updates according to the settings below" & "Discard A and PTR records when lease is deleted"?
Currently I am setting up DHCP in SBS2011 and both checkboxes are empty.
What are those options for and should I make the settings of SBS2011 same as 2003?

Thanks.

SBS 2011 Standard doesn't require you to set up DHCP. The wizard does this out of the box and it is *recommended* to leave the settings at their default unless you are doing an advanced scenario. And if you *were* doing an advanced scenario then you'd know whether you needed those settings already.

Covering the inticracies of dynamic DHCP updates and record scavenging can be a rather long subject (it usually is a full chapter in most books) and thus can't really be summarized in a small comment-style forum such as EE.

You are correct. I checked another SBS2011 site and no checkbox was checked.

Thanks.
