BIDS 2012 - How to deploy SSRS data sources to different servers (dev & prod)

Our development SQL Server is on a different physical server than our test and production servers.  How can I set SSRS up such that we can quickly deploy to the desired server and the data sources are configured correctly for the destination?

We are using BIDS Visual Studio 2012 connecting to a SQL Server 2012 server.

Can you just deploy the report configured to use an external data source, but without also deploying the data source? If you put data sources in the same location on both the UAT and production servers, called the same thing, but pointing to the proper destinations (UAT and production, respectively), the deployed reports should point to the correct location.
