Rest using Spring java project

Hi,
Using spring mvc, I know that to implement rest services.
Just want to know, is it possible to do that using java project using spring (jar project)?

REST services in Spring are built upon Spring MVC so there is no real way of getting around that.

However, Spring MVC does not necessarily mean that you are developing a "web application" as such. What you can do is to have your application start an embedded servlet container and http server (such as Jetty) and you can connect Spring MVC to that, in a very similar way to a typical web application. Then, the whole thing can be packaged into a normal .jar file and run as a standard Java application.
