Can you describe what steps you would take if you tried to copy files from one directory to another but was told that you had restricted access on the source files?

Any work around besides asking for permissions to be changed, need to get work done, and don't want to wait for my admin to get back to me, since he assigned the work.

if you can't wait for the admin, the only way is to ask another user who has more rights (on the source AND destination folder) to copy it for you.
