Word 2002 does not open files from Explorer

I can open .doc files from the Word menu, but clicking on a .doc file in Explorer doesn't open the file, although it will start Word up.
It might be a problem with my Normal.dot file, but I'm not sure what.

(and yes, I run 2002 because I'm familiar with it - I have 2010 but use it only for files 2002 can't access)

AFTER its fixed, install this and Word 2002 will be able to open the newer file formats: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=3

The normal fix is to go to Add or Remove Programs in the control panel and Office has a repair option that should fix it.

I was talking about Windows Explorer - when you click on a file, it opens up Word but not the document.

I'm the only one who understood the question, and finally fixed it on my own.
