What do you mean by saying "integration layer"? do you mean the code that connects (integrates) EJBs and JMS servers? If yes, then I do not think that the connection between these system should be in their own layer.

i read as java provides client technologies, server technologies, integration technologies to solve business problems.

I thought  integration technologies includes ejb2, ejb3, jms etc where i am not very strong yet. So I am looking for good links, practical examples on those technologies. i may be wrong in calling them integration layer.

With the term integration they probably mean SOA, BPEL and workflows. These are higher level languages which you basically model and programme the flow by using specific tools and by dragging and dropping icons. There are several tools that do this, for example search for WLI (Weblogic integration) or Oracle JDeveloper to have an idea what I am talking about.

Yes you can also use EJBs for the integration. In fact, most of the integration components on the high level languages are translated either to web services or EJBs under the hood.
