WCF REST authentication and authorization

We have a WCF REST Service but there is no authentication mechanism so that anyone can call the service and consume the data.But I want to implement authentication on that REST service so that I can provide authentication . Please guide me step by step how to implement authentication on that service

Hi Alexander,
I have these links and plural sight account already and made the use case based on those links. But what i really need at this point is crystal clear diagram for how the service get authenticated during client call , if that service is registered at gateway.
Also i don't want to disclose my use cases for authentication and authorization since it includes some sensitive data about organization. But i like to update the use cases based on the diagram which i requested to.
