Hello,

Physical Servers
 - Dell PowerEdge 2950 - Primary Server running Server 2003 - Runs TS Licensing and holds TS USER CALS
 - Dell PowerEdge 2900 Terminal Server running Server 2003

Hello,
I am upgrading the Dell 2950 to a new Dell T620 running Server 2008 R2 Enterprise. I do not want to replace or upgrade the Terminal Server. How do I enable it to keep functioning in this new environment? Move CALS, License Server, etc?

Thank you!

Yes, you need to purchase new TS Cals. We went through that same project a few years ago.

In 2008, they are called RDP Cals.

Could I move the TS licensing and CALS to the Terminal Server or does it require it to be on a separate server?

You can move ts cals and user cals from a 2003 to another 2003 server, but the 2003 cals and 2003 ts cals will not install on a 2008 server.
