Are move request necessary for Distribution groups and contacts?

Went to move a distribution group (pilot test) for our new exch2010 server and could not find the move request for this function. Its as if it doesn't exist. Is this a manual process?

You don't move the distribution group to exchange 2010 but upgrading it. Run this command:

Get-DistributionGroup –ResultSize Unlimited | Set-DistributionGroup –ForceUpgrade

After upgrading them,  you can manage permissions of who can edit membership of members of a group and who can manage groups.
