Hello Experts

I would be grateful for any advice.

We are trying to integrate an EPOS shopping till system to a Magento website run on 1and1 dedicated/managed webserver.
GET requests are ok but it seems PUT requests are blocked with a 403 error.

The EPOS developer has looked at the apache error logs and thinks this is the problem.

•      [Thu Mar 27 19:03:10 2014] [client XX.194.28.194] PHP Warning:  PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library '/usr/lib/php5.4/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20100525/mcrypt.so' - /usr/lib/php5.4/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20100525/mcrypt.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory in Unknown on line 0

The hosts suggested trying to comment out this line in php.ini

Line 34 ;extension=mcrypt.so

Now error seems to be below which relates to the
PHP Deprecated:  Comments starting with '#' are deprecated in /homepages/26/d10541XXXX/htdocs/XXXXXXX/php.ini on line 34 in Unknown on line 0

The url the EPOS server is posting to looks like  https://www.EXAMPLE.co.uk/api/rest/eposnow/categories/update,

But we still get this error

•      The remote server returned an error: (403) Forbidden. - {"messages":{"error":[{"code":403,"message":"Access denied"}]}}

1and1 Hosts say there are no restrictions on GET or PUT done on the localhost.  We have this in the .htaccess

<IfModule mod_security.c>
###########################################
# disable POST processing to not break multiple image upload

    SecFilterEngine Off
    SecFilterScanPOST Off
</IfModule>

So nobody seems to know what is blocking the PUT requests.

I am stuck between the EPOS developer, 1and1 hosts and my developer.  I am not a developer just site owner.   Any advice would be gratefully received please.

Are you sure it's a PUT request and not a POST request?  I'm just asking because PUT requests are relatively rare, whereas GET and POST requests are quite common, and POST requests are often used when PUT would be OK, too.

Thank you for interest.
I will enquire with EPOS developer if they mean PUT or POST and will post it here.

This was a managed server issue.  In the end we had to move to an unmanaged root server to make the changes eg Oauth and various security settings

When all else failed all we could do was move servers - its worked, to an extent.
