How can I process a request behind the scenes and not during the submit process?

Guess I haven't done this before but I'm using cfimage to go out and get up to 15 HD photos. Instead of making the user wait for those to process is there a way I can have the user process the action but not have the user wait for the process to happen as well? The time of the page idling is a little long but not too bad just wanted to see how other people might handle that besides a loader graphic. Can maybe jquery $ajax handle that request? Not sure if it still would do the same thing but just curious if there's a better way. Thx

You can make using cfthread to make your processing faster of the HD videos. and use ajax to do the work in background so this activity works differently that what the user other can do.
