Hey

I have a Kyocera 3051ci which is changing trays automatically when the normal tray is out of paper. We need it to simply beep or stop printing when its out of paper.

thanks

probably in printing preferncies you have set paper source as Automatically choose, so printer can choose another one if the primary is empty. change the paper try in the options from Automatically select/choose to concrete tray.
I do not have Kyocera right now availble to check how exactly it is, but in the Konica it´s like this:

... or it could be that the print job specifies a particular combination of Paper Size and Paper Type, and this combination is satisfied by more than one tray on the printer.

Print off a configuration report from the printer, to check the Size and Type settings for each tray, and modify as necessary.
