DFS problem

I'm currently employing Microsoft DFS between two servers. One on site (NY) and one in a disaster recovery location (Boston). The replication is working fine. This only problem that I am experiencing is that clients in NY are getting mapped drives from the Boston server when they login.

Why would clients in NY select a Boston server first?

Thank you for your help.

To me this seems mostly like an issue with AD sites and services. Do you have proper sites and subnets set up for each of these locations? By default clients will use AD to determine the "closest" DFS member to them and use that. If there is some issue in your AD sites you could see this issue.
