I migrated my server from one box to another (Server 2008 R2 to another new Server 2008 R2) using Web Deploy 3.5 and the export (from the old server) and import (to the new server) went well.  However, when I try to access any website I get the following error:

IISError

Re-create the app pool and assign it to the website.  Make sure that all the permissions are correct on the folder path of the website and that the app pool has access to those folders.

If you need step by step instructions, let me know.

I have tried recreating the app pool...

What do you mean by this:
Make sure that all the permissions are correct on the folder path of the website

So the application pool has an identity.  That identity (network service for example) needs to have rights to where the code of the website is.  So if website contoso.com is using the app pool contoso, the user that the application pool is using has to have rights to where the contoso.com code base is.

Makes sense?

That makes sense, and I have allowed the Network Service rights to where my website is located and still get the Service Unavailable when I try to access my site.

OK.  You recycled the app pool after doing all that?  Can you see what the event log says and put screenshots of the service unavailable and event log please?

I have to go see a client.  I will try to get back with you ASAP.

Cheers!

I also went through this as it was almost word for word the problem I was having, but when I removed the module (RewriteModule) and tried to reset IIS then browse to the site again it said RewriteModule not found?  WTH?
