Hello,
We are planning on purchasing Symantec Virus protection for SharePoint 2013. Before we purchase this, I wanted to see if there were any known issues or challenges that others have had with this product. I am surprisingly unable to find anything of substance on an internet search, so I was hoping the experts could advise. Just to clarify, we are buying this regardless of any issues because it is approved by our InfoSec team, so we are just wondering if there are any issues with installs or compatibility challenges.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Thank you for your reply - this is the product:

Endpoint is something different, I believe. This one is specific to scanning SharePoint file uploads. Thanks again!

I've used SEP for about 8 years. Recently, I've been comparing it to ESET for servers and workstations in the network.  I've found SEP does not have as good real time protection as ESET.

I would suggest installing a firewall in from of those SharePoint servers and/or the network to supplement the level of protection for SharePoint.
