MSI installer error - How to fix

I have an web application built by Visual Studio Architect 2003 that has an installer project as 1 of the 6 projects built together. It works fined on 2003,2005,2008 and 2008R2 for installing the Web app. Following info from the web, I didn't have to change the 1.1.4322 Framework it was targeted for.

Now I'm on Windows Server 2012 and Visual Studio 2010 is where I loaded and converted the 2003 app. I have no errors on compile in Visual Studio 2010 on the Windows 2012 Server. However, when I go to install I get an error 1001 and it lists what looks like a malformed directory and says it can't find the path. I'm downloading the Windows SDK for Windows 7 since there isn't one for Windows 8 or Windows 2012. Orca is what I've learned from researching is the tool to use to fix MSI. i can only guess that the MSI is malformed in some way.

Is this the correct approach? Is there anything that comes to mind to help me with regard to moving the app from 2003 to 2012 Visual Studio. Also, is it possible to install the Visual Studio 2003 Architect onto 2012? 2012 let me install 1.1.4322 .NET framework.

I did find that the app would run in 2.0 Class Application Pool on 2008 as a separately named application pool.

Thanks, my search string was looking for Windows 2012 I guess. Maybe I should have used 8.0 or 8.1

The question left is whether converting a Visual Studio 2003 as a 1.1.4322 app can be updated using Visual Studio 2005 into a 2.0 app and be easier to run on IIS8?

i found 69 obsolete or possible null references that I fixed just now. It now show 0 errors and 0 warnings. I'll try again tomorrow to get it to run on 2012 with a separate app pool for 2.00 Classic
