Removal of optional windows updates

By mistake I installed the optional windows update of a Bluetooth card on my notebook. Now the Bluetooth card does not work and I really dont want to redo the entire OS. Is there a way to remove this optional windows update? Im running winodws 8.1

Open device manager and roll back the driver.

That did not work. I had to reinstall the OS as Microsoft told me you cannot remove optional updates,

Please note that what you took for an answer is incorrect. Either the MS guy did not know his stuff or you got him wrong.
Microsoft's updates sometimes cannot be removed, so far it is correct. But I have removed drivers that came with windows update doing a simple rollback as described.

Even if for your device a rollback was (for whatever reason) not offered, a reinstall could have been avoided if you had given feedback here before that move.

I know the rollback driver feature works. I'm guessing I came across one of those updates that was not reversible
