Android vpn
I am trying to RDP to Windows Server 2012 from Android 4 tablet. I am using PPTP and the default VPN client. I can establish the VPN connection just fine. I can ping the server both by name and IP. RDP fails, times out after couple of minutes. VPN/RDP from a Windows client works. I have also tried RDP on the LAN with Android and that works too. So its the combination VPN/RDP/Android that somehow needs to be the cause. Ideas? Perhaps an alternate PPTP VPN client?
Can you try more tests on the tablet with vpn. Open the webpage to the server (I hope you have it active, even if it's just the default IIS placeholder). If it doesnt open that, there's definitely something wrong with the VPN software (though I've used MANY Android, all with the built-in PPTP support without problems)
Try another RDP app, and also try using the IP address of the server. If just the IP doesn't work, try IP:3389 (where IP is the IP of your server).

Here's a follow-up to my original question. Apparently there is a flaw in the Android PPTP client that would cause this type of problem. I'm still hoping that someone might suggest an alternate corporate VPN client that supports PPTP. Yes, I know it's not the most secure protocol but I'm not in charge of the VPN server, I run the client side of the equation. Full points to anyone who can suggest an Android VPN client alternative that supports PPTP,
