VB.net Add tag/additional information to file name

Hi

I want to store additional information for .pdf files without using the file name so tha when I email files in the older my app can pick up the email address without opening the file. Is there some sort of tag or other way that you can assign to a file name to do this?

Here is a method using Microsoft's DSOFile

The code is in C#, if you need help with it give a shout.
