smart array p822

when i go to the hp array configuration utility, i get the following warning. see attachment. what does it mean and how do i fix it ?

Means that the controller detected errors on the cache (probably correctable ECC errors) and has slowed it down to avoid further errors. You would fix it by replacing the cache module but it's probably still under warranty so log a call with HP and they'll send you a replacement. You will probably have to fit it yourself but it's just a SODIMM with an extra wire for the supercapacitor/battery.

It's a poorly documented error and indeed only certain firmware levels even bother to tell you that it's under-performing since the lower clockspeed is still a darned sight faster than disk.

there isnt anything i can do software wise ? like clearing out the cache ?
Nope, it's degraded hardware. You can ignore the message though since it still works albeit a bit slower.
