Cannot connect to renamed Time Capsule

Hello,

One of my users took the liberty of renaming the Time Capsule device that the graphic designers used as a secondary backup device.  Ever since the device was renamed we are unable to connect to it.  We have rebooted the device, restarted the switch that it was connected to and still no go.  DHCP still shows the old name of the device and I can ping it by ip address.  The status light on the Time Capsule flashes amber which indicates that it's not connected to the network.  Any ideas for troubleshooting or am I stuck with doing a full reset of the device?

Thanks

The fact that the TC flashes amber does not necessarily mean it is not connected to the network. That is a general error warning and could mean something as simple as an update being available.

Have you tried changing the name back to what it was?
Also, does it have a static or dynamic IP address. If the IP address is dynamic and you restarted the TC, then the IP address may have changed and you may be pinging the wrong device.

I suggest you use the Airport Utility to change the name of the TC back to what it was, and while you are at it, check the IP address under the Internet tab. Also, Airport Utility, I think, should tell you what the cause of the flashing yellow light is.
