asked on

sqlexpress 2012 install to support dacpac?

is there a special install for dacpac?  eg tools or advanced..

my sqlxprs instance only displays bacpac?

Hello Ryan,
Pls note the extract data tier option I have in SSMS at home is as per the attached.
The version I was using on my laptop remotely may have been different.. I will get some shots from it..  I did try to install the DAC extensions but it said it was already done.

So to clarify, you see that option in SSMS when you're at home, but you don't see it in SSMS on your laptop? If that's the case, can you confirm that the versions of SSMS match in both places?

Hello Ryan... After I did some extra installs I think Shared Management Objects yielded the required menus.  From memory the DAC framework said a more recent versions was already installed with SSMS.     The version on the laptop was actually 11.0.2100.60 which may explain some of the differences also...

Thankyou for your time.. the answer was to install the extra components... and better still do a total reinstall of the same version for best compatibility..
