we have 2 watchguard firewalls (XTM 2_ devices) at either end of a VPN that others had set up several years ago and has been working fine all that time. I am now backing up remote machines to the home office, so VPN is seeing lots more data.
a couple times now over the last couple months we have the problem that you can't get across the VPN. I really don't know watchguard boxes to see where to look for troubleshooting.
I rebooted the remote office box and that didn't restore the connection. Waiting to reboot the home office box (see
I can't get into that box right now).
As in previous times, rebooting the home office box likely will restores things.
Any idea where to start to troubleshoot this? I don't know the watchguard interface and don't really know these more powerful firewalls in general.
I would like to just replace the boxes - 1 has expired live security, the other's live security is months from expiring - that's their support, right? I called them about this a month ago and they took days to call me back and defended the turn around time. I had rebooted the boxes and things were working and I wasn't on site, so I didn't pursue things.
any advice? what's a good / easy to admin box?
