Suse and ping

I am on Suse

I want to ping, but ping is turnned off

what command can I use instead to

- find the hostname of the IP

- see if I can reach the IP

Could you please post an example

nslookup A.B.C.D
dig -x A.B.C.D
host A.B.C.D
