NetApp disk failure

A disk on our NetApp FAS 2220 has failed. It looks like the hot spare was automatically converted to live disk.

After changing out the bad disk, it has been automatically assigned as a spare. However, it is not part of any aggregate.

My question is -- should I add it to our default aggregate -- aggr0? Why or why not?

No, a spare is by definition no part of an aggregate.

If you add it to an aggregate it becomes a data disk and you no longer have it as spare.
