search for accounts

Hi,

Is there a tool I can run that would;

- list any and all accounts on either a domain or a workgroup
- Allow me the change the password
- rename the administrator account

Any help is greatly appreciated.

i guess you are looking for command scripts to do the tasks, as all of them can be done via Windows MMC and domain administrative tools?

I looking to something a bit automated.

The scenario is as follows, I have 15 locations (over 500 workstations) some locations have a domain some are under workgroup. The existing administration will be let go and I would like to search for any local accounts, on the workstations (I plan to have all the users change the password on next logon).

A script would works but prefer a actual GUI tools something like "Network Scanner" except it doesn't let you change the password.

OK, basically it seems you are looking for a solution to streamline the client and server management across all sites. that's the job for Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager.

have a free try below and see if it is something you need. i guess you will discover it can do much more than you expected. :-)

Two places to look are
1. Netwrix
2. Manage Engine

Both have some free tools you can use that will help with this that are really great.

If you have the ability to buy a product you might want to look heavy at AD Manager from Manage Engine.  I like them because its really very simple to use and its at the low end cost wise.

NetWrix Account Lockout Examiner Console (Free) lets you change the passwords.  I haven't tried this in a workgroup but it works very nice on my Domain.
