Outlook 2007 startup problems

My OS is win 7 prof 64 bit, and I use Offic e 2007.  Whenever outlook starts, it seems to freeze, and I am unable to click on any where or the buttons, and finally I have to load the taskmanager and end the program.  I tried starting  outlook in the safe mode, pressing the control key down and loading outlook.  Still the same problem.  This happened after I had installed Thunderbird trying to use it as a standby application.  Can the Experts please suggest a sequence of steps to fix this problem.  I will uninstall Thunderbird to start with.

Do you have the latest service pack and updates for Outlook?

Have you tried recreating the profile?

Run a repair on Office from control Panel.

install any windows updates.

in response to dmwynne, can u please help in recreating the profile.  I have installed all the updates and also the service pack.  I also tried reinstalling Outlook from the original disk, but I still get the error "Outlook is not responding" when I am in the Inbox or trying to do anything.  Thank u.

Start, Control Panel, Mail, Show Profiles, Add.  Not knowing your exact mail setup can't help from here but you should be able to figure it out based on the exiting profile you have.
