asked on

what charger is for real

I have the new T440S laptops from Lenovo and there is a huge difference on what is supposed to be the correct power charger and what really works. I  also notice the connector on the end is square. Now my question is, what size wattage should truly be used, 67, 90, 135, 170? It seems that if you use the smaller below 90 it will not support 2 monitors. I have found also that it may be a docking station firmware issue? The W series 540 and above uses the big brick and it is big, 170 and 190 Watt. Why they just don't leave things alone scares me.

Thanks. That explains it very nicely. The new connectors at the end have cause grief. I also found out that there is a firmware update for think pad ultra pro and ultra docks. The update corrects the displays that go black and the display ports may flicker. The update is:
http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/options/fwdphb01.exe  This should correct that.
Thx for the link, haven't had many problems with the displays like that, but I'll hold on to the patch in case we do.
We only had 4 here but we did have the issue. It seems Lenovo has since placed a fix but the previous vers. did not have it. I like to pass things on. makes our life easier.
I did know of a delay when ordering docks for the T440. For some reason Lenovo stopped shipping the docks for a few weeks to change something. Maybe that was related.
