when I select fire fox and click on it my home site
another web site opens and runs at the same time  cbs.com

Go to Tools -> Options and on the General tab, see if you have more than one site listed as your homepage(s).

Go to Tools -> Add-ons and see if there are any Extensions or Plug-ins associated with that site or that you didn't intentionally add.
