The song "song name" could not be used because the
Original file can not be found? Would you like to
locate it?

then answer yes, and either let itunes find it or tell it where the song is. you probably moved or renamed that song since itunes last used it, or possibly the itune db got somehow corrupt.

oups : i understood you ware saying the song exited on the e drive.

if itunes tells you the song is on the e drive and there is no e drive, things are different. could be a harddrive you removed, or possibly you played that song from a removable media such as an usb key... whatever the case, unless you copied the song locally, you can't do much about it.

what actually is your question ?

the song either exists in a folder that has been imported to iTunes and must be located. Try doing a search in the start menu. Alternatively, if you purchased the song you can re-download this from the iTunes store

I am told that the laptop had a copied hard drive
and that e was an old harddrive

I thought it was usb also.

if the contents of e were copied somewhere else, you're likely to find the song where the data was copied. can't really help you with that. either you have the info, or you can do a filesearch. if you have problems with many songs, the good thing is that once you find one of them, you can add the whole folder to the media library and let itunes sort things for you.

Best described.
So file is there or it is not there and use media library.
Thanks.
