My EE Article shows you how to Add a USB device to a VM

HOW TO: Add and Connect a USB Device to a Virtual Machine, hosted on VMware vSphere Hypervisor ESX 4.1 ESXi 4.1, ESXi 5.0

But you will not be able to add the USB disk to the host server to clone your VM. (usb connected to host server is not supported).

Connect the USB external disk to your workstation, and then follow my EE article

Hi the USB harddisk is working, but when i try to exprot OFV file to USB disk, i get the error the operation is time out, i also try to clone other VM to other Esxi host, the error is "can not create a quiesced snapshot because the create snapshot operation exceeded the time limit for holding off I/O in the frozen virtual machine", any advice?

Snapshot, not working proerply, could be, storage is too slow, VMware Tools not installed correctly, or the VM is too busy or active for a Snapshot to be created and the VM frozen or stunned.

Exporting OVF issues, is also either network or storage too slow.
