We are currently running Sophos Endpojnt Security and control version 10.3 and IE 10

When we try to load a Youtube vide, the ad plays but the vide says " an Error Occured when playing video"

If I enable Active X Filtering the video plays OK

If I Stop the Sophos Web intellignece service on the local PC, the problem is also resolved

Does anyone know how to resolve this in a way that is more suitable for a global network?

will be good if there are some Sophos errors flagged up as well so as to map the error code @ http://www.sophos.com/en-us/support/knowledgebase/b/8600.aspx

there is one similar mention (no advice) in sophos forum (though using web appliance)
http://community.sophos.com/t5/Sophos-gateway-protection/YouTube-errors-videos-not-loading/m-p/45665#M1667

Disabling web control in the Sophos agent allows the videos to play and they also load significantly quicker. Also, changing the web control policy via the Enterprise Console to disable full web control also results in the same thing

first is to make sure it has latest patch and activate sophos support concurrently

I have Active X filtering turned off in my IE 11.
Just open Tools if there is a tick next to it untick it. Save it
Close  all IE pages to save new settings and re-open

Another Sophos forum stating WIS disable allow the browsing to be ok again and supposed the latest release should not have such issue and do try other browser as well FF and Chrome. It ma not be specific to the issue but may be relevant for web control

http://community.sophos.com/t5/Sophos-EndUser-Protection/Web-Protection-in-Sophos-Endpoint-Protection-10/td-p/19817/page/4

It loads ok for me in IE 9, Chrome and FF on Win 7 64-bit.  I have SAV 10.0.5 and "Web Control", "Download Scanning" and "Block access to malicious websites" are all enabled.

sorry for the delayed response here, I managed to solve it by adding youtube.com and googlevideo.com to the trusted and globally allowed lists.
