Hi,

When I hover over an application on the taskbar it gives me a thumbnail preview of what it is.  If i then move my mouse over the thumbnail it appears full screen.  It is not appearing as full screen any more, only the thumbnail images are appearing.  Any ideas any one?  It used to work but I cant find this setting.

Thanks

What it is doing when you hover over thumbnail itself it just brings out the
open page to the front on your desktop, any other pages open simply disappears.
Are you actually clicking on the thumbnail?
Have you changed your theme to classic?
Changed any settings in this area?
There is also small bar on the far right bottom at the end of the taskbar is this still there
That's the Show Desktop and when you move your mouse over that it makes the open pages transparent
show desktop barHere's my settings
Use the Aero Peek  to preview the desktop enabled?

Thanks for the detailed response.  In answer to your quetions, I am not clicking the thumbnail, when I hover my mouse it showed whichever application i was hovering over full screen but its not doing this.  It is just displaying the thumbnail.

The use Aero peek is ticked.

Ok
Are all your windows all the same size? Full Screen?
You understand that when you hover over the actual thumbnail all other windows there behind become transparent?
Let me illustrate
I have two windows open, EE web page and just a blank internet explorer, not full screen
here you can see the second window behind EE web page
2 pages opennow I'm hovering over the thumbnail of EE, see how the second page is now transparent.
hovering over thumbnail background page transparentWhere I'm getting at is to just confirm if all your windows are exactly the same you wont see this one brought to the front.
Is this what you are experiencing ?
You still have your windows open on the desktop and can see them?

No matter what size I make these two windows, drag out the bottom make smaller or larger hovering my mouse over the thumbnail will not change the size of actual window on the desktop.
If it's full screen I see full screen, small it is small
small screen thumbnailBut your not getting anything other than a thumbnail?
Yet you can still see your windows on the desktop at full screen?
What happens if you make your windows smaller different sizes? <please provide answers here.
You have Aero peek enabled also as I asked above are you using the classic windows theme?
Try this
using your thumb left hand press and hold down the windows logo key> hold it down ok.. now tap the TAB key
does your windows fly up? each time you tap the TAB key while holding the Windows logo key they scroll.
Just release the windows logo key on the window you want.
Does that work on your desktop?

What comes to mind if this is the case are using a 2ndary monitor from cloned screens or dual monitors?
Extend desktop?
Is this a laptop or deskop

Australia cool!! even better
I wanted to add for hyperbyte
that when our windows are at full screen the thumbnail preview can't show any changes as the windows are already at full screen.
I suggest he make his windows smaller and then test the thumbnail preview window

Hi Its a desktop.  and i am not getting anything at all regardless of the size of windows.  I just get a thumbnail when I hover.  if i press alt+tab my windows change and i can cycle through my open applications.  I think I might try logging in as a different user, if it works, I will  just re-create the profile.

Thanks

Hi All,

I managed to fix the issue.  Open Regedit>Expand HKEY_CURRENT_USER>Software>Microsoft>Windows>DWM>Enable Aero peek>Set this to 1

Thanks

Thank you for the solution hyperbyte glad you solved it.
An unusual way.
I'd love to know why you had to do this?
Did you mess with the registry  previously and now undid it?
Cheers
