I have an index.cgi file on my hosting with HostGator. &nbsp;it lets me set shortcuts in that file so I can type something like acrobat.mydomain.com and that will take me to the ninite acrobat installed.<br />

so I have dozens of these entries, the file is index.cgi<br />

it's set up and works ok. &nbsp;<br />

if I log into my cpanel in hostgator, go into file manager or even legacy file manager and edit the file - add a space, then delete it (so effectively no changes to the file) and save it, I then get a 500 error - somehow saving the file saves it in a way that the server can't run that cgi file.<br />

If I use filezilla, download / edit the file, save and then upload the index.cgi &nbsp;back to the server, it works fine. <br />

Any idea why Host Gator's own system corrupts the index.cgi but filezilla doesn't? &nbsp;Their tech support hasn't been able to help.
