RAT using Standby

Hi,

I am working on exploring Real Application Testing to simulate production load in Load and Stress Test environment. I have following questions:-
1. What is the pros/cons of using Standby. Is it recommended to do so.
2. How much burden in Real life it put in Production.
3. What about if we capture data from Prod without open in restricted mode and because of data inconsistency while applying in LaST environment.
4. Any other considerations or best practices
