Hyper-V replication with snapshots.

Hello all,

I have a hyper-v machine which has 7 snapshots.

I want to enable replication to a backup server.

Question is, if i start replication, will it replicate 2 vhds? or is it going to replicate the vhd and 7 avhdx for each snapshot?

Hyper-V Replica uses Snapshots, to perform replication.

You should not leave a VM running on a snapshot for more than 2 days.

Snapshots are not backups.

So your result VM Replica will always be Snapshot free.

Why are you keeping snapshots?

snapshots was a mistake that has gotten out of hand. we just got a new server in house today.

we are going to replicate to a replica of the physical server over a 20GBE link to SSD's. I have 5.5TB on a raid 6 SSD array.

Once i get it moved over, merging shouldnt be a problem
