I've been using What's Up Gold for many many years.  Thousands of routers, firewalls, and switches later.  I still love it.

As for being easy to install and maintain, nothing comprehensive is a snap to install and configure correctly that's worth the effort in my opinion.

GIGO  (garbage in, garbage out)

Once it's installed and configured correctly, it's simple to maintain (to me)

It depends on what functionality your after from the syslog server. I have used kiwi syslog and it proved to do its job, but is quite limited on its functionality and reporting.

It is quite simple to install and maintain. once syslog data starts to grow you can create custom scripts to compress the raw data if needed.
